Food waste disposal

Food scraps belong to the organic portion of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) and are generally collected in compostable bags. Some new uses for food recycling after crushing, shredding and selection are new edible food, animal feed, fertilizers, electricity, bioplastics and fuels. However, a great deal of food waste is wasted: 21% is lost in the catering industry, 54% in consumption; 15% during commercial distribution, 8% in agriculture and 2% in transformation.
